Spratford Bridge

Early-attested site in the Parish of Halberton

Etymology

This is possibly a compound of stræt and ford , but the main road is about three-quarters of a mile to the east. The bridge may have been so named by the people of Halberton, since it is situated between that village and the main road to Exeter. For Spratford Stream, v. supra 9 n. 2.
