Etymology

This may be 'nook or corner of land of the people of Ēadin' (v. -ingas ), but the total absence of medial -inge - spellings points rather to -ing - as a connective and so the name is more likely to be 'nook of land of Ēadin', v. -ing-, halh . Cf. Edensor supra 90 for the same pers.n. Forms in Edel - for Eden - are due to AN sound-substitution.
