Fidwell Fen (6″) is Lugf (f )en 1373, 1414 Cofe xxxvi, “later called Fyde ” ib. It is, perhaps, to be associated with the family of John, son of Geoffrey Fyde (1352 Pat), cf. Fidwell Fen in Stretham infra 238.Lugfen from the flags or lugs growing there, cf. 'iiii colar ' de Lugges , 1324MinAcct (Harston), Lugffen 1636 BedL (Soham).
