Etymology

'Tryppa 's hill or tumulus,' v. hlāw . This personal name is not on independent record but, as suggested by Ekwall (DEPN), may be a short form of such a name as Þrȳþbeorht or a nickname from the root of OE  treppan , 'to tread.' For further forms v. the Hundred name supra 82.
