The hundred probably met in the fields of Newton at Mothlowe c. 1250ElyM , Mot (e )lowe 1319Extent , 1323StJohn 's , Mutlowe 1418Ct , Short and West Mutler Shot c. 1840TA . In Harston and Thriplow documents we also have reference to Motlowe , Motlawe c. 1200–92Trinity , c. 1280Chateriz , probably referring to the same place. The road leading to the moot-hill was Motloweweye c. 1230ElyM (Shelford), Mot (e )loweye 1319Extent (Newton), 1418StJohn 's (Thriplow), Metloweye 1319Extent . v. (ge)mōt, hlāw and cf.
