Etymology

'Farm of Salse ' or possibly, in view of the earliest forms, 'of Salse 's people,' v. ing(a)tūn. Cf. DEPN s. n. OE  *Salse corresponds to OSw  Salsi , ON  Sǫlsi and is a short form of names in Sele -.
