Etymology

Armshold Fm (6″). Cf. Areneshowe 1203 FF, Arniggesho 13thQueens ', Arneshowe 1312Deed , Arnyshowehyl 15thQueens '. These references are from Great Eversden. The farm is just over the border, whilst Armshold Lane (6″) forms the boundary between Kingston and Great Eversden. 'Hill of Earn or Earning ,' v. hōh . This may be that now known as Claypit Hill in Great Eversden.
