Etymology

The forms are too late for any certainty. It is probably 'hunger-hill,' a common term of reproach in p.n. but it is just conceivable that it is 'hanger-hill.' v. hangra . Ongar St nr.Aymestrey (He) is Hungerstrete in 1375.
