Etymology

Chaldwick's Fm, pastur ' de Chaldewyks , Manerium de Chaldwiks et Basses Ed 6LRMB , Chaldwickes 1747 ArchJ 16, Charlocks 1761 Rocque, Charlocks Farm c. 1825StJohnMap . Cf. also the phrases piscar . aque de le Ok a Chaldewyke usque Ok tonge 1553LRMB , drayght upon the Ryver of Ock from Chald wicke corner to Ock tonge 1596StJohnSurvey , which may contain the Garford name. It is impossible to tell whether this is a genuine p.n. (probably from c(e)ald 'cold', and wīc ) or manorial. The VCH does not give any relevant information. Basses in the first reference is presumably the manor of Charney Bassett for which v. 390.
