Oare, (æt ) Oran 968 (c. 1200) BCS 1225, Ore 1225 (c. 1250) Bract, 1242–3 Fees, 1316 FA, 1401–2 ib, Orwe (sic ) chapell 1574 Saxton, Oare 1761 Rocque, 'slope', v. ōra . The same name occurs in K and W. An earlier reference to the Berks place occurs in the phrase (on ) orhæma gemære 951 (16th) BCS 892, 'boundary of the people of Oare', v. hǣme , (ge)mǣre.
