( 1859OS ) , 1859OS , Hycopeheade 1588Rent , the name of a deep boulder - strewn ravine ( v. gil ) , bounded by two continuous scars ( v. sker ) , except for one indentation ' the nick ' ) , which meet at High Cupgill Head ( v. hēafod ) ; Cup is clearly OE , ME  cuppe ' cup ' , used ( as in ModE ) of ' a cup-like hollow or depression in the ground ' .
