Etymology

v. Wyndham infra 213. Wyndham Hundred was half in the Rape of Bramber and half in Lewes, v. Twineham infra 279 n. Wyndham in Shermanbury was central for the whole hundred.In 1279 (Ass 914 m. 28) this hundred seems to be referred to as the hundred of Salemanneburne , i.e. Shermanbury.
