Etymology

v. East Grinstead infra 331. The hundred comprised the tithings of Imberhorne, Ashurst, Brambletye, Shovelstrode but not the borough of Grinstead itself, which was a separate hundred, 'the hundred of the villata de Grenstede ' (1285CplM ).Cf. also the Subsidy Roll of 1296.
