, 1831 Bry , cf. the Higgings field 1650LRMB , the Higgenes Feild 1650 (18) Surv , probably from a pers. n. Higgin (s ) , from ME  Higgin , diminutive of Higg , a voiced side - form of Hick , a pet - form of Richard ( Reaney 164 ) , but hecing is possible , cf. Higginbotham 1266 .
