Etymology

This name clearly contains the same first element as Tawsmead infra 318, found also perhaps in Teasleye (1509DuLa ) in Aldbourne. It is probable that in all these names alike we have the OE  adj. tǣse , 'convenient, for general use.' v. worþ and cf. Atworth supra 115.
