Etymology

'Wad(d)e's forest-clearing', v. lēah . An OE  pers.n. Wæddi , a strong form of OE  Wad (d )a as in Wadworth 59supra , is not recorded, but appears in several p.ns. including Wadsworth iii, 199infra .
