Etymology

v. niwe , ham . “This place, by reason of another not farre off, which hath the same appellation, hath been antciently distinguished from that, by these severall additions; scil. Newnham juxta Kirkby -Monach , Newnham parva, Cold Newnham; and lastly Newnham Padox , by reason of a little Park formerly there, as 'tis like” (Dugdale 57).
