Whiphill (6″) is the camp. de Wyppehulle of Lewes 137 in 1293.The first element is the pers. name Wippa found in Wippan hoh (BCS 883) and in Whippingham (Wt), DBWipingeham and Wipley (Sr), Wyppelegh 1327 BM.
