Etymology

Courtwick Fm is Courtweek in 1723 (MarC), perhaps referring to the place where the manor courts were held. Lower (ii. 38) says that it was formerly called 'Powers in Wyke ,' having been granted to one Stephen le Power t. Hy 3.
