Etymology
Sheddingdean Fm (6″) is Chettingdene al. Sheningden , Chettenden al. Sheningdene 1567 Rowe, Shedington in a will of 1680 (M.S.H.), cf. Shedingstile in Plumpton (1597 Rowe). The forms are too late and varied for any suggestion to be possible.
