Etymology

Ryelands Fm is Ryland quondam Rees in 1558 (Rowe) and was the home of the family of John ater Ree (1296 SR) and Ralph atte Ree of Ardingly (1327 SR). v. ea . It lies by the Ouse on the bounds of the two parishes. By it in 1823 (G) we have Tibbies Fm , pulled down in 1855, a name which probably preserves the name of the family of John Thebald (1327 SR).
