Etymology

Hammerpot is referred to as Harmorpotgate in 1665 (Ct ). In 1703 there is mention of a 'Harmans or Harmars Farm' (DKR 41, 233) which suggests that the first element may have been a man's name, pot may refer to the slight hollow here.
