Etymology

Gravett Copse (6″) is Grevetts (1568 Endowments) and was the home of William de la Gravette (1241Ass ). This is the OE  grafett , a derivative ofgrafan , 'to dig.' See more fully PN Sx 17.Hence 'place dug out or hollowed out.'
