Etymology
Purwell Fm is Pyrwelle 1551–2Survey , Peril Farm 1821 O.S. Possibly 'pear-tree stream,' v. pirige , w(i)elle. Chambers (55) says that the name preserves that of some purlieus of Wychwood Forest, but the forms do not support this conjecture.
