Etymology

Thurleby is possibly a transferred name, cf. Thurlby (Ness Wapentake Kest), Thurlby in Bilsby (Calcewath Wapentake LSR) and Thurlby near Lincoln (Graffoe Wapentake Kest), all three of which are recorded in Domesday Book and are compounds of the Scand  pers.n. þórólfr and (DLPN 127).
