Etymology
'The broad, wide wood or clearing', v. brād , lēah ; it should be noted that a fairly extensive wood still survives in the parish.Forms in Braide -, Brayd - and Braithe - are due to Scand. influence. Bradley is occasionally described as near Great Grimsby and it gave its name to the wapentake in which it is situated, v. Bradley Wapentake supra .
