Apsley End and Apsley Mill (6″) is Apseleymulle t. Ed 1StAlbansO , Asplemulle 1382Ct , Apseleymulle 1384 Gesta and was the home of John de Aspele 1357Rental . 'Aspen wood or clearing,' v. æspe , leah . “The aspen is common in many parts of the Herts woods to-day” (E. J. S.).
