Etymology

Nasty is Nastey 1406Ct , Nasteyfeld t. Hy 6Rental , Astyefilde 1556AOMB and was the home of Henry de Nasthey (1294SR ), atte Nasthey (1314 ib.) and Elias de Asthey (1342Ass ). The name goes back to ME  atten ast hey , 'at the east enclosure,' v. (ge)hæg. Cf. Napsbury supra 95.
