Etymology

Fellowsfield Common (6″) is Velawesfeld n.d. AD iii, Felawysfeld 1351Ct , Felauwesfeld 1354 ib., Felawefeld t. Ed 3Rental , Fellowes fild 1556AOMB and must take its name from some medieval owner named Fellaw (Fellow ). This word is ultimately of Scandinavian origin, from ON  félagi . See Introd. xx.
