Bickshead 1622Dep , Bixhead Quar 1669Comm , and Bickesheadeslad , Bickslad 1655Comm , Bic Slade 1830 M.Probably 'valley head where box-trees grew' (v. byxe , hēafod ), as a pers.n. Bic is not known. Bixlade contains Bixhead as its first el. and OE  slæd 'valley'.
