Etymology

Brimstone Hill (6″) is Breaunsons 1419MinAcct , Bremsons , Bramsons 1549, Brendston Fee 1553 Pat. A manorial name deriving from the family of John de Brinzun (1240 FF) and Joan de Bryaunesoun (1297 FF), which came originally from Briençun (Normandy). Cf. New Hall infra 223.
