Plash Wood

Early-attested site in the Parish of Arkesden

Etymology

Plash Wood (6″). Cf. le Plas , Plasfeld 1387Walden . This wood probably derives its name from plæsc , 'shallow pool,' and feld .It is probably only a coincidence that in a fine of 1242 one Thomas de Plesseto , Plasseto acted as attorney for the Prioress of Campsey, which had land in this parish.
