Darknoll Fm (ST 801118), Derkenhull 1286 Banco (Drew), Darkenell 1640DCMDeed , Darknell 1811 OS, cf. Gt Dartnells , Lt Dartnells 1840TA , 'dark hill', from deorc (wk.obl. -an ) and hyll . It gives name to Darknoll Brook, earlier called Tril , v. RNs.infra .
