Etymology
v. Gilscott supra 85. The editor of the VCH would identify this with the DB manor of Chetellescota held by one Chetel TRE (VCH i, 496), but this is stated to have been in the Hundred of Winkleigh and in any case the change from Chetel - to Gill - would be difficult to explain.
