Etymology

One Ash Grange, Aneise 1086 DB, Anaix 1101–8 RegLich, Anes 1198, 1231, 1328 Roche, Ones 1254 Misc, Oneasshe 1301SR , grang ' de Onyashe 1345Cor , Grangia de Onash 1339 DbA xi. 'One ashtree', v. ān , æsc , to which was later added grange , the place being held by Roche Abbey WRY. Cf. Monyash supra 148.
