Etymology

Perhaps 'Pad(d)a's open land', v. feld and for the OE  pers.n. Pad (d )a cf. Padbury (Brk), Padiham (PN La 79–80) and Padley infra 158. Alternatively the first el. may well be OE  padde 'toad'.
