Etymology
Thirst Ho (local), Tursthous 1417MinAcct , Thurstehouse 1600ShefLxC , 'giant's house', v. þyrs , hūs , the name of a cave in Deep Dale, where numerous prehistoric and Roman finds have been made (v.
