Etymology

Mytham Bridge (6″), Mythom , Mithom ford (e )1285For , Mithumford c. 1285 ib, le ford de Mithombrigge , Mythombriggeforthe 1343Cor , Mythone Bridge (sic)1583 PCC, cf. Mythomstede 1285For (v. stede ). The ford and later the bridge have been named from Mythom which itself means 'at the meetings of the streams', v. (ge)mȳðe (dat.pl. (ge)mȳðum). Just below the modern bridge the R. Noe and Overdale Brook join the R. Derwent. v. ford , brycg .
