Etymology

Shooterslea, Shyterley , Shiterley Hy 3, Ed 1Beau , Shetley (sic)1328 SR (p), Shuter Lees 1693Derby . Probably 'well-manured clearing', v. scitere , lēah . A small stream rises near the farm and it is possible that this was formerly called *scitere.
