Etymology

A p.n. in cros 'a cross', with brōc , ferme , hyll , hall , smiððe , myln . The first el, which has been confused with lág r 'low', appears to be the ME  pers.n. Luke (Lat  Lucas ), cf. Reaney 206 s.n. Luke .The forms Louce , Louke would represent the anglicised gen.sg. of Lucas . The smithy was at 109–467505.
