Etymology

'Barley farm', v. ber(e)tūn, bærtūn . Barton stands on the end of a spur rising 50 feet above the general level (v. hyll , cf. The Hill infra ), and adjoins Coddington 85infra , Stretton 56supra , and gives name to Carden Brook 54supra .
