Etymology
Taxal parish was a chapelry of Prestbury parish 181infra until 1377, Orm2 III 782. Taxal township was transferred to Db in 1936, and is now in Hartington Upper Quarter c.p. and Fernilee c.p. Yeardsley cum Whaley township was transferred to Db in 1936, and is now included with Chapel in le Frith Db, in Whaley Bridge c.p., named from Whaley Bridge 178infra .
