Etymology

Losfield (lost), Losfelle 1086 DB, Losfeld 1130 P, 1275–6 RH, 1302, 1320, 1330 Pat, Losfeld '1219 Fees, Lossefelde 1554LRMB . The second el. is feld, used of a clearing in Windsor Forest, cf. Leafield O 361, and the first probably hlōse 'pig-stye'. The chapel of St Leonard (infra ) is stated 1320 Pat to be in Losfeld. There was also a Losfeldeshath , Losfeldeshaith 1279 HMC Var Coll I, v. hǣð .
