Etymology

is Lower Shadymoor 1839TA , and BIG SHADYMOORCOPPICE is Upper Shadymoor Wood ib . All three farms are marked Shady Moor on 1833 OS . ' Boundary marsh ' , v. scēad , mōr . There has been association with the words shadow and shady . The same name occurs in Norton in Condover, supra . VCH VIII 161 equates this with Stanleymor 1311 Pat (namedfrom Richard de Stanleye 1327 SAS 2/XI ) , and Shadwell Moor , mentioned in 1547 .
