Side Saddle Lake
Other OS name in the Parish of Stanton upon Hine Heath
Etymology
. In the 1588 perambulations of Booley and Hatton townships this n. occurs as Sett Saddell Lake ( Booley ) , Syde Sadlelake ( Hatton ) . Lake is presumably a ME reflex of OE lacu ' small stream ' , referring to the tributary of Platt Brook by which the farm stands , but the use of side-saddle as a p.n. qualifier is unexplained .
