Etymology

( Gazetteer ) . Hey 87 n. says “ it acquired the name of Eagle Farm after the Gittins family had moved to Castle Farm and let the property to Thomas Jux , who put up the sign of the Eagle and Child ( the coat of arms of the Lords Strange … ) and sold ale there ” . Richard Gittins was at this farm in 1528 .
