Etymology

( SJ 486267 ) , 1622 PR(L) 19 , 1833 OS , 1839TA , Aula Slepe 1603 PR(L) 19, Slip Hall 1606 ib, Aula Sleep 1608 ib . The main settlement of Sleap is in Wem in N . Bradford Hundred, infra ; but an area S . of the Wem / Myddle boundary ( and the hundredal boundary ) , which includes Sleap Hall , was a detached part of Balderton township . This is probably Parua Slepe super Bilemers 1291–2Ass .
