, 1833 OS , 1840TA . A similar name , Dropshort , occurs in O , Bk and twice in Berks , v. PN Berks 424, 471 . In PN Berks it was tentatively suggested that Dropshort might refer to a position beside a road running at a slightly higher level . Maps suggest that this might suit the houses at Hopshort .
