, Friar 's Close 1843TA , cf. the Fryers 1775DoncD 834 , named from the White Friars of Doncaster ; cf. also Freres Bridge ( the Frere breyge 1540DoncCrt 124, Frierbridge 1587 ib 309 ) named from the Grey Friars whose house ( le Gray freres 1507 DoncD 13 ) was at the north end of the bridge ( Leland ) ; their name survives in Grey Friars Rd .
