, 1715, 1757 PR(B) , Blewgrass 1720Hothf , cf. also Blue Grass (ii, 19supra ) ; the plant - name blue-grass is used only in U.S.A . ( NED s.v. blue ) , but it may also have been a local term for the blue moor - or rock - grass , Sesleria caerulea , of the limestone mountains of the mid and north Pennines , v. gærs .
